Quiet, Secure Ride
The 1" thick jaw on the Companion OEM is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Companion OEM is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you the cab clearance needed to execute turns while towing.
To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.
Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.
The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Two years full time and I have nothing but full confidence in this hitch. Every 1-2 weeks we move over Rocky Mountains or New York traffic.
Tell ya what I think. I think the B&W 5th wheel hitch is a masterpiece made by American Master welders. And it shows, it's a work of art. It fits into the GMC OEM pucks, like a hotdog in a bun. 5+ Stars for the quality of the hitch.
BUT, there's always a but. I will give you about 1.5 Stars on the packaging. It come with box all ripped up. Corner was wide open. Looking at it, I was thinking it would be all scratched up. But NOPE. It's all good.
Seriously, bottom-line It's American built, built tougher than 9 penny nails. I highly recommend this hitch and company. 1st place in my books.
No assembly instructions provided but found an adequate YouTube video. Pretty easy assembly and look forward to towing with it. Once installed, it breaks down by 2 pins and 4 levers for easy removal. 2019 GMC Sierra HD 8' bed.

I was a little apprehensive while I waited for delivery. In retrospect I should not have been. I detailed map of the exact location of the hitch while in route to my house was provided and everything was as advertised! The hitch arrived perfectly packaged and the directions were concise and complete. I had no difficulty with the setup and everything fit perfectly! Accomplished with a few tools and I required no assistance. It's the morning after and I am still delighted everything went so well and it seems so stable in the truck.

This is by far the best hitch we have owned. Still works flawlessly after a year. Its allowed us to pull our fifth wheel through many great states taking in new sights and meeting new people. When I replace this fifth wheel hitch it will be with the exact same one. I couldnt recommend this product enough..thank you!!
Hitch was delivered 2 days after ordering. It was easy to install and instructions were easy to follow. The GM puck system and the hitch based matched perfectly!
Just installed hitch in 2018 GMC Denali HD dually, and it was a breeze. Fits in factory bed puck system perfectly, and all things considered (I spent $300-400 having hitch installed in 2500HD, my last truck), it was quite easy to assemble. Seems extremely stable & stout, and parts are machined to tight specs, and fit seamlessly. I must admit, I have not even connected our 5th wheel yet. If there is anything negaitve with function, i will update this. Lastly, super impressed with Etrailer! Very easy ordering, good CS input online, and product arrived very quick, well packed and undamaged :-)

1 year later, PLUS a new Toy Hauler thhats quite a bit heavier, and the B&W 24K Companion hitch is still VERY impressive. Super easy connections, and very stable towing. New TH weighs 18-19K lbs, so a little more chucking noise with quick stops BUT, still way better than the old slider hitch. Highly recommend this hitch!!!
Ordered on Sunday, got it on Thursday. Box was in good shape and instructions were easy. It says 1 hr to install, but to ensure it is correct, need to double and triple check the dogs that connect to the truck to ensure that it is all seated correctly. The instructions tell you what you need, but forget that you also need some lithium grease and wrenches to go with the sockets that are listed in the instructions. Got the 25K because it can't hurt to have more capacity than needed. Plan on towing a toy hauler with a GVW of 19K. It is only $200 +/- more for the extra capacity from a 20K, but beefier than needed is better, just in case we need to haul up to the capacity of the truck.
Product received quickly and in perfect condition. I'm very pleased with all my orders from etrailer. I incorrectly ordered a 7 1/2” drop for my 2018 Silverado Duramax 2500. I reordered the 5” drop and it is a better fit.

Great the Hitch is better than Expected
This is a great hitch in almost every respect. It is massively built of quality material. The pucks line up perfectly in the bed of my truck. When you connect your fifth wheel there is no doubt that the jaws have engaged, and they won't let go. I have only one small criticism and that is that the handle and the locking pin are a pain to get to over the side of the bed on a dually. I have to use a little stepstool to reach it, but of course I am not as spry as I used to be. But I will take this after seeing people jerking around on the handle of some other brands trying to latch the jaws or whatever they are doing. This design locks in and hitching up is so easy to do. And need I mention that this hitch is made right here in the good old USA?
I installed this last winter. A bit heavy as I lifted it into the bed myself. Seems well constructed and traveled from MA to AZ and back last winter with no problems! It handles my Fuzion 373 Toy hauler well, hardly notice any bucking or jolting at all! I like the fact you can hook up or un hook without being completely level. Would recommend this product!
The fifth wheel seems well built and has a good heavy locking mechanism. I am a little skeptical about the rubber pads on the uprights that the fifth wheel swivels on. With a heavy fifth wheel only time and being used will tell me if they will last. It fits my GMC factory holes and lines up nicely. It is fairly heavy and requires two people. I did install it by myself once , but be careful if you try this not too hurt your back lifting it. I would recommend this product and also etrailer delivered quickly and fair pricing. Thank you ! I love the B&W the weight class is way over what I needed at the time, But I wanted that. There would be nothing worse than saying that I wished I had More. Buy it nice or you may buy twice. The ease of use is way better than my last 5th wheel very easy to remove in two pieces with two simple pins and 4 levers. taking it out in two pieces makes that a one person job. If I had to do over now i would make the exact same selection.
Kim was a real help when ordering my B&W hitch. I had chosen two hitches and wanted some expert opinions on which one to buy. Kim asked several of their tech experts and with that information I was able to make a decision. Kim told me that the B&W was not in stock and I would have to wait a couple of weeks which was fine.
George in shipping kept me posted by email when my hitch would be available and when it would ship which was a help knowing what was happening. Great communication.

A perfect choice to pull a 40' 5th wheel. The OEM puck model for the new GMC's is a direct fit. Mine was a replacement for the Curt 24k, which was a stupid choice for my first 5th wheel hitch.
